In my opinion, what makes a 'Genuine Philippine Literature' is the author's passion to convey a moving story that could positively impact society through his imagination and way of thinking. The root of 'a genuine Philippine Literature,' however, is the general drive of Pilipino authors to express this passion through their works.

The root of 'Genuine Philippine Literature' is the manifestation of our ancestors shared culture, in such a way they reflect how our ancestors' everyday life experiences; how and why they worship the gods, what social activities they conduct, how they behave, the various foundation of their culture, etc. Literature in the past such as stories are passed down orally and only some are very well preserved till this day and age.

The genuine root of Philippine literature was the time people started to write different written works that reflect the Filipino's way of life, culture, beliefs and traditions using our very own language.

For me, genuine Philippine Literature is deep-rooted in the feelings, beliefs, and customs of Filipinos. It expresses all sorts of emotions like love, sorrow, happiness, hatred, or anger in the form of written texts. When defined that way, I can say that it is the story of our race and the spirit of our nation.

I think the very root of philippine literature revolves around our culture and identity as Filipinos. The authors of genuine Philippine Literature probably used the art of writing to showcase the different ideologies and beliefs that we have in order to preserve the idea of what it is like to be a Filipino.
